The Menzies Cabernet Sauvignon
Wine
Yalumba The Menzies Cabernet Sauvignon is grown in the heart of the Coonawarra terra rossa. Planted in 1987, the vineyard site is red sandy loam over limestone: classic Cabernet Sauvignon dirt.
The grapes are crushed to small static fermenters. The tannin is controlled by plunging the skins, irrigating the fermenting wine over the cap, or draining the wine from the skins then flooding it back.
Select parcels are given extended skins contact before pressing. The wine matures for 18 months in one third new French hogsheads and barriques. Experimentation, innovation and small batch winemaking have created The Menzies.
Inky red, Yalumba The Menzies Cabernet Sauvignon is a full bodied wine of longevity, elegance and structure. Cellaring potential is 15 years.
